DELIVERIES & RETURNS

DELIVERY METHODS

I currently offer 3 methods of transport and delivery. These options are as follows:
1. Specialist Art Courier

Due to the extremely fragile nature of taxidermy, this method (along with local pickup) of delivery is the safest option to ensure your new piece of taxidermy arrives undamaged. I use Aardvark Art Services Ltd. who are specialists in moving fine art and take extreme care whilst handling fragile packages.

Delivery times vary depending what part of the UK you live in. Please get in touch with your delivery address for an estimate timescale.

For international shipping using this method, another courier by the name of Anglo Pacific Ltd. will be used. Quotes will be priced per delivery, so please get in touch to arrange if you are outside of the UK.

2. Royal Mail/Parcelforce

All items using this delivery method aim to be sent out within 3 days of purchase on a working week day (Monday – Friday).

Items sent via this method will be with the Royal Mail Special Delivery before 1pm by default, which provides proof of postage for peace of mind. This service typically comes with a 24hr guarantee, but please allow 3 working days before getting in touch. You will be provided with a tracking code via email.

I meticulously package all taxidermy specimens with upmost care prior to shipping to reduce the risk of damage during transit.

Please take in to account that I cannot be held responsible for damage during transit using this method of delivery and it will not be covered by compensation because the way I package specimens does not fit inline with Royal Mail’s packaging guidelines.

For some parcels that fall outside the Royal Mail size specifications and for items being shipped overseas using this method, Parcelforce will be used. This is a courier company in partnership with Royal Mail.

3. Local Pickup

Please feel free to pick up items directly from me. I’m based in Risby village, just outside of Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk. If you select this option at the checkout, I will be in touch shortly after to arrange a date for collection that suits you.

SHIPPING POLICIES

Due to restrictive and varying border controls and strict taxidermy and wildlife import laws around the world, I only ship to the European Union to ensure guaranteed arrival.

However, I can ship some taxidermy items internationally by request. But first, you’ll need to find out wether or not your state/country requires an import permit and if any other regulations need to be met to eliminate the risk confiscation at border control.

I kindly ask international buyers to check with their state/country border controls before purchasing an item to make sure the item will arrive safely.

RETURNS & REFUNDS

Due to the bespoke nature of the products, Taxidermy Co. UK unfortunately does not accept returns, unless you believe you have received the wrong item. Products are always described and photographed to the best and true representations of themselves possible. If you have any problems with your item once you have received it, I will always do what I can to resolve the issue. If you have any queries about your order, or in general, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

How are they packaged?

As mentioned previously, taxidermy is extremely fragile. With all methods of delivery, I use strong, double walled cardboard boxes that are sometimes modified to suit the size of the specimen. Each piece is firmly secured to the bottom of the cardboard box using wire and/or hot glue, to ensure it won’t move around during transit.

In most cases with uncased specimens, I use an ‘L’ shaped plywood rig with wires attached, anchoring in to the balsa wood body of the specimen. This gives it extra protection and stability for the shipping process to give it more chance getting to you in the same state of how it has left my workshop.

Excess packaging can actually do more damage than good, so apart from securing the specimen to the bottom of the box and using a few compostable, air filled pillows, I don’t like to over do it. I find that friction between bubblewrap and fur/feathers can ruffle them up and undo the countless hours I spend positioning in to the right place!

It goes without saying that I plaster the exterior of the box with ‘THIS WAY UP’ and ‘FRAGILE’ stickers.
